Chinoiserie Double Happiness Temple Jar Porcelain Lamp

This hand painted Chinese blue and white porcelain table lamp with a temple jar body is decorated with the "double happiness mark" also known in Chinese to be the shuangxi symbol, which is understood to mean "wedded bliss". This symbol is found most often on items related to Chinese weddings. The temple jar is decorated with scrolling foliate and lotus tendrils underneath a meandering 'Greek' key fret border on the shoulder.
